This didn't work at all - the TV stayed black, and though I saw it flash to a slightly LIGHTER black a few times, nothing else happened. I didn't take a picture of this one, as it's exactly the same as the first one, just with a Sony logo on it and less extra bits - the only parts are the one that fits into the GCN, and the yellow/red/white on the other end that go into the TV.

The light on my GCN didn't turn on, the disk drive didn't start spinning, it just ran the fan - I totally panicked thinking I had fried my special edition platinum Gamecube somehow! By sheer accident, I unplugged the cord when checking to make sure everything inside was free of dust and smudges, and when I turned it back on - there was light again! I thought whatever had happened had been a fluke, and surely I got it now - but as soon as I plugged this cord back in, the light went off again, the disc drive stopped spinning. I plugged it into the TV and the 'cube, turned it on, made sure I was using the right input, and - nothing. It may be worth noting one red and white are split off from the others a bit of the way down.) So, luckily, after a bit more digging, I found this. (This cord has the same heads as the other one on the console end, but on the TV end it has six colors of cable - blue, green, white, yellow, and two reds. A little poking around on the web told me this is called a composite cable, and that this was a common issue when using them with newer TVs, so I needed to find a component cable, and try that instead. I thought maybe it was the age or looseness of the cord, so I triple-checked to make absolutely sure everything was plugged firmly, but still no good. It seemed quite old and the part that was plugged into the GCN was very loose and wiggly - I had to secure it with tape. In this case, when I plugged in the red/yellow/white cords (couldn't find a port for that black one to fit into.) I did get a picture, but it was extremely desaturated, almost black and white, and I got no sound at all. (If you can't view the pic, it's red, white, and yellow on one end, with a black cord that opens into a circle and has prongs inside - the other end has three heads that could plug into consoles.) If I remember correctly, this one was designed so that it could be used with multiple consoles - one head connects to your GCN/Playstation, another to your XBox, so on, something like that.

I took pictures to keep my explanation clear but I'm afraid it's pretty dark in my house and my phone is kind of outdated, so please forgive the potato quality. In all cases, I used the port labeled "Analog AV Out" - I couldn't find any cables that fit in the "Digital AV Out" port. I have a lot of old consoles in storage and so I dug out all the wires I had available to me. Since it's Halloween and since I can't afford the Luigi Mansion's remake I thought I'd dig out the old GCN and try it classic, but I'm having a hell of a time with getting it to work! I still have the original power supply cord that came with the 'cube, so no issues there my issue is with getting it to work with a modern TV.
